Tuff Gong ! What’s in a Name ?

Bob Marley

Tuff Gong Studioplex is named after the Late, Great,

Robert Nesta Marley,

Tuff Gong was Bob’s nickname as a young man.

Although Bob has a series of Business’s using the name Tuff Gong, we are in no way connected to them nor are we trying to trade on the name, it is used as a mark of respect for undoubtedly one of the greatest ever songwriters and performers to have walked the planet.

Bob Marley, I feel has always been and will continue to be an inspiration to anyone who has a passion for music.

This is an exert from possibly Bob Marley’s last interview on 18th September 1980.

Anita Waters: Your organization, Tuff Gong, seems to be getting bigger all the time, adding new studios, etc.

Where does the name Tuff Gong come from?

Bob Marley: Tuff Gong? It just come up you know, it come up, because Gong is a song, a reggae song, and Tuff is tough.
